The Feature Packed Xperia X10 Mini Pro

Global mobile manufacturers may be moving from large to LARGER touchscreen smartphones but Sony Ericsson has not forgotten about the compact smartphone market. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro is a one of its kind with a compact 2.55 inch full screen display.



The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro was recently released (June 2010) as an improved alternative to the X10 Mini. Both the Mini smartphones are powered by a Qualcomm 600 mhz processor and have Android installed as their operating system. The X10 Mini Pro was initially installed with Android OS version 1.6, but is upgradable to the quicker Android OS version 2.1. The newer version of the Android OS comes with essential upgrades such as an improved virtual keyboard and HTML 5 web browsing capabilities.



Despite having an extra slide out QWERTY keyboard, the Xperia X10 Mini Pro is surprisingly thin. As compared to its "twin", the Mini Pro has a negligible 2mm of extra depth. In other words, they’ll feel the same in your pockets and palms. The Mini Pro’s default color is black but it is also available in Pink and Red.



The additional QWERTY keyboard is very much welcomed on the X10 Mini Pro. In fact, there is much to gain and nothing to lose. This is especially true since gaps have been thoughtfully positioned between the keys to reduce typing errors. As a result of the clever initiative, the Mini Pro’s keyboard has been appraised to be one of the best in the smartphone industry.



The Xperia X10 Mini Pro comes with the visually appealing Xperia experience. This includes the lively 3D interface and the mobile social network partner, Timescape. The trademark UI by Sony Ericsson constantly collect updates from multiple social networks and display them on an attractive timeline. Social profile integration with the address book serves as yet another convenient feature. Need entertainment? Sony Ericsson’s "PlayNow" mobile store sells music tracks, games and applications.



Aside from the attractive interface, the Xperia X10 Mini Pro comes with a 5 megapixel camera to satisfy your photography needs. Now here’s the main question - Will the smaller screen of the Xperia X10 Mini Pro cause discomfort? We’ll have to applaud Sony Ericsson for doing a great job on the interface of the cell phone. The navigation of the interface is well planned and you shouldn’t expect frustrations from the smaller screen size. Most importantly, the adept QWERTY keyboard minimizes our usage of the onscreen virtual keys. On the downside, the lower resolution of the touchscreen deems the phone incompatible with a couple of applications from the Android store.
